Symphony No. 17 in C major

was written by Herschel when he was in “Pontefract in Yorkshire July 1st 1762”. There are three movements:

Allegro, Adagio mà non troppo and Allegro assai.

It is scored for 2 violins, viola, violoncello, double bass, 2 oboes, (bassoon), 2 horns, (timpani), continuo. This edition is based upon GB Lbm Add. MS 49626/5 (holograph score) and MS 49631/1 (holograph parts).
