Symphony No. 1 in G major

was written while Herschel was staying at “Richmond in Yorkshire, June 1760”. There are three movements:

Allegro assai, Andantino sostenuto and Presto.

It is scored for 2 violins (ripieno), 2 violins (obligato), viola, violoncello, (double bass), bassoon, continuo. This edition is based upon GB Lbm Add. MS 49624/1 (holograph score); there are no extant parts.
